We have had a rough few weeks. Grant has been working swings (4pm-midnight) for the better part of the last month, Krystina's preschool teacher changed, mommy started a new job... so there have been a lot of moving parts and they have affected our little rugrat the worst. She started wetting her pants at school and wetting the bed at home... she really wanted attention. So we made an agreement that if she could go a full week with no accidents at school or at home, her and mommy would have a special girls ONLY slumber party complete with pizza and popcorn. So on Friday night, we sucessfully went a full week without an accident so she and I went to Blockbuster so she could pick out her own movie, then we ordered Pizza Hut, went home and pulled all the pillows out of EVERY room in the house and off of the couch and made a bed on the floor, watched our movie and ate our junkfood. At 9:15 she announced that it was time for bed, got up turned the tv off and we went to sleep. Then daddy got home at 12:30 ( I am sure he got quite a giggle out of our sleeping arrangement, Krystina was at one end of our floor bed and I was at the other), came over and cuddled with us on the floor for a few moments then woke us up to go to bed. Krystina wanted to stay sleeping on the floor, so we told her that was ok as long as she went potty really quick... that lasted about 10 minutes until she came into our room to chat with us (we were awake talking) and then she headed off to her bed.... I am so blessed to have such an amazing little girl.
Saturday was another family/girls day. Saturday morning I got up with noodela and let daddy sleep in. Then off to Starbucks for some coffee. home to wake up daddy then we went to Target and Payless (Krystina need sandles WITHOUT HEELS... who buys their 4 year old HEELS! I mean SERIOUSLY everything at Target looked like little wedges!) Krystina and Grant did end up getting some new shoes, although we got her slip-on Airwalks at Payless and no sandals. Then daddy had to go to work, so it was naptime and Krystina and I were off to a birthday party for one of Krystina's friends and then off to a playdate with the wife of a coworker of Grant's. We had a really good time playing with Abigail and I had a great time getting to know her mommy at our playdate. I am starting to branch out and meet other moms with little one's about the same age as Krystina. I know that it keeps me busy while Grant is working or at drill and it's good for Krystina because it keeps her busy and engaged and lets me see how well she is doing with respect to other kids and listening skills.
Yesterday my wonderful husband let me sleep in until almost 10 (ok, we did go to bed around 3 in my defense) and then I lounged in my robe until 2... (again, I had been up 4 hours and on a normal weekend that would be equivalent to 10am). After that we had a great dinner with my amazing mother in law and headed home for some quiet time. Spending some time at home as a family is the thing I love most about weekends. Krystina got to play with her Polly Pockets from Christmas, I opened another pack of them... hee hee. Mommy and Daddy got to just exist for a few moments in the quiet.
This was a perfect weekend. The more I look at how amazing my husband is as a father the more I know that I want a baby... sooner than later. He continues to amaze me because he actually puts effort into being a good dad. I know with his schedule he spends many a night and day playing catchup with Krystina... the things that he has missed throughout the week and easing into the routine that her and I have come up with. I know that he will never see it, but he does an great job at being a daddy and a husband and a soldier and a PSO and a dog/cat owner... he is, as we all are, learning how to prioritize and balance out each of these jobs.
This weekend I did learn something valuable... DON'T QUIT CAFFEINE COLD TURKEY... HEADACHES WILL COME! I decided that I need to chill on my caffeine intake (I have a triple grande carmel drink when I go to the coffee place which has been more often than not lately), true I don't drink that much... or so I thought until my head was throbbing, my eyes hurt and I was SUPER irritable on Saturday with NO coffee in 2 days. I drank a soda and felt 100% better... LESSON LEARNED!
